DYNAMICS OF A FLEXIBLE PLATFORM DUE TO OPERATIONAL DISTURBANCES

Abstract
The paper studies, using the Lagrangian approach, effects of several operational disturbances on a flexible space platform. To begin with, influence of operational disturbances on the first forty system modes of the platform is assessed. Next, a controller is designed to regulate librational degrees of freedom using the Feedback Linearization Technique. Finally, the system response is studied, particularly with reference to the microgravity environment. Results suggest sufficient level of g-jitters to have significant effect on a certain class of experiments. The information is likely to be useful in the design of experiments and their location on the space platform.
