The 2024 AAS/AIAA Astrodynamics Specialist Conference, hosted by the American Astronautical Society (AAS) and cohosted by American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) will be held August 11-15 in Broomfield, CO (greater Denver area). The conference is sponsored by Advanced Space and organized by the AAS Space Flight Mechanics Committee and the AIAA Astrodynamics Technical Committee.

Abstract and Manuscript Submissions

Papers and presentations are to be submitted through a web based submittal system. Authors will also use this site to submit their final manuscript after the conference.
Deadline for Paper Submission: Wed July 27, 2024 at 11:59:59 ET.
Deadline for Presentation Submission: Thurs August 8, 2024 at 11:59:59 ET.

John V. Breakwell Student Paper Award

Applications are being accepted for the Breakwell Student Paper Award. Full paper submission is highly encouraged. Deadline for submission is the same date as the abstract submission deadline.

Beginning the registration process without completing payment may result in a higher fee being charged as applicable based upon the early/late/on-site fee schedule set by the General Chairs.

Attendees that register and need to cancel may get a full refund through the end of the Early registration period. During the Regular registration period, a 90% refund will be available. After the regular registration period ends, no refunds will be available. Please email the conference General Chairs with any refund requests.

Social & Offsite Events

On Sunday, Aug 11, there will be a welcome reception at the Omni Interlocken Resort's' Pavilion and (weather permitting) Lawn.

On Monday, Aug 12, we will have an awards reception and presentation. The reception will be 5-6PM in the Centennial Foyer, and the awards presentation will begin at 6PM in the Centennial ballroom. We will present the AAS "Emerging Astrodynamicist" award, AAS Fellows, John V. Breakwell Student Paper Awards, and Best Conference Paper Award. This will be followed by presentation of the Dirk Brouwer Award to Prof. Hanspeter Schaub, who will deliver the Dirk Brouwer Plenary Lecture.

On Tuesday, Aug 13, we will hold dinner and social event in the Omni's Pavilion/Lawn. 6:00-9:00pm. There will be live country/bluegrass music from a local band and the opportunity to make your own AAS/AIAA coaster at a wood burning station. You may purchase additional tickets for each social event during the online registration process.

A special panel will be presented by the OSIRIS-REx astrodynamics team on Wednesday, Aug 14 in the Centennial ballroom. Come learn first-hand from the astrodynamicists who designed and operated the 1st U.S. mission to collect a sample from the surface of the asteroid Bennu and returned the sample back to Earth!
